Sara and John

Sara and John were supposed to be married by now. They had plans to get married LAST June. But due to the uncertainties that last summer brought, they decided to move it to March 13, 2021. Here is a little bit about John and Sara!

John and Sara attended Broughton High School together but didn’t get to know each other until they met in 2012 during a family weekend. Sara’s roommate at the time invited her on her family’s annual Labor Day trip to Linville with their “Saluda” family. Saluda is a bunch of family friends who for the past 21 years have spent the Labor Day weekend enjoying the Appalachian Mountains. John and his family are part of the “Saluda Family.” When they first met they hit it off immediately and bonded over movies, music and our love for adventure. John was at UNCW at the time so they somewhat lost touch after this trip. John decided to transfer to App State in 2015 and that’s when their friendship really took off. Sara graduated from App in 2015 and they continued to date long distance until he graduated in 2017.

After John graduated, they both decided we wanted to move to Australia for a year to explore the rugged landscapes of down under. HOW FUN IS THAT!? John has been a huge Steve Irwin fan since he was little, so it was a dream of his to travel to his hero’s homeland. They absolutely cherished that time there and got to know each other even more through the trials and tribulations that travel can bring. This trip made them certain that they make a great team!

They got engaged on November 16th. They got up early to catch the sunrise on Roan Mountain at Carver’s Gap. It was super cold and windy, but the sunrise was spectacular! John thought this would be the perfect place to propose because they adore the mountains. It couldn’t have been more perfect!

We did their engagement session this past fall in John’s parents garden. I loved the idea and thought it would be such a special place! His sweet dog even popped in a few pictures too! They were so much fun to photograph and I cannot wait for their wedding next weekend!
